Updates and Improvements to the business

I am very excited to share some updates and improvements I am making to my teaching business.

It has been a rather turbulent journey since 2019, where I came away from teaching full-time to focus on other things.

However, it has also been a personal journey, one of which where I have come full circle.

I have learned the importance of enjoying what you do, considering the time you can end up spending doing it!

This is why I have come back to teaching full-time, but this time with new energy to take my teaching business to the next level.

I have therefore been making the following updates and improvements.

  • Refurbishing my home teaching studio
  • Investing in new guitars and equipment
  • I have began new musical projects, one of which will be the very highest standard of wedding and functions bands you can get
  • Opened up my timetable to take on more students
  • Updated and structured my teaching syllabus, working so that aligns with your progress as well as assisting my students with their grades
  • More updates to come!

I have to say, I am very excited to be pushing forward with these updates and improvements to a business I have established for over 12 years!

Soo… it’s been a little while!

Hi everyone from Dan’s Guitar Lessons Bournemouth!

I have been keeping busy with a couple of projects here and there. One of them being an acoustic duo called Redwood, which I have formed with fantastic female vocalist Naomi. We are nearly ready to hit the gigging circuit, so very excited to see where that leads! Hopefully you’ll be seeing me around the Bournemouth area at some point soon.

I have also enjoyed playing a handful of gigs with ABBA’s Angels, a tribute band to the one and only ABBA, which has been a unique experience that I enjoyed a lot more than I thought I would! The guys have been really great to work with as well!

On top of that I have been cracking on with recording with Xander and the Keys for our new album which is just sounding better and better. We have been really enjoying writing lots of exciting new songs! I really can’t wait for people to hear it when it’s released 🙂

I have recently been busy recording a new album with my band and I am pleased to say that it is sounding like the best work we’ve done! I am hoping that the album will be finished by Summer 2018. Excited for the rest of the year leading up to Christmas and currently taking on more students!

Don’t forget to get in touch with me if you wish to learn this great instrument!

The difference between ‘practising’ and ‘playing’

I am sure most people start playing the guitar because they want to get a lot of joy, satisfaction and most of all fun out of it! This is fair enough, and it is certainly why I play and continue to play the guitar. Plus there is nothing more infectious than seeing someone genuinely enjoying themselves when performing, and performing should be fun!

However, in order to have got to the stage where you are having fun playing this beloved instrument you needed to put the practise in. Your guitar lessons are they to help you to know what to practise, you are the one who has to actually do it!

Quite often, what happens is that once a guitarist has learned to play a few things they enjoy on the guitar they end up playing and fiddling with the same old things every time they pick up the guitar! As a result, they are not learning anything new or stretching their abilities!

I think it is fair to say we have all done this, and its not a crime! It is just worth pointing out that this is not practising. Practising is all about playing the things you CAN’T play yet. This is the only way you will improve as a guitar player and expand on your current playing abilities and GROW as a musician!

Practising can be tedious, and I often say it is supposed to be tedious and frustrating, because you cant do it yet! But the satisfaction that comes with learning a new skill is the reward which only adds to your enjoyment when you get up and PLAY!

SIMPLES!!
